Areas of Focus
- Gait
- Balance
- Range Of Motion
- Strength
Multiple causes can lead to balance issues including medications, ear infection, head injuries, and more.
Balance issues can be a warning sign for something more serious. It is crucial that you see a doctor to determine what is the root cause.
More people live with chronic pain than cancer, heart disease, and diabetes combined. As a result, masking the pain with medication is often the solution. However, finding the underline issue and repairing those muscles groups will have more lasting effects on your overall health.

Gait
Gait training can increase your ability to stand and walk on your own. Find your independence again through this type of physical therapy. Gait training also improves the following.
– Strength in your muscles and joints
– Improve your balance and posture
– develop muscle memory
– lower the risk of falls, while increasing your mobility.
Gait training involves walking and various muscle-strengthening activities. Our physical therapists will provide assistance and give you a road-map to strengthen the joints in key areas allowing you to regain mobility. Never underestimate the power of positive momentum. We’ll enforce the simple philosophy of beating you from yesterday.
Balance
First, let’s understand how you maintain balance at all times. Three variables work hand-in-hand with each other inside the body.
– Your eyes and visual system
– Your vestibular system in your inner ear.
– Your proprioceptive system in your muscles and joints.
Balancing exercises challenge all three of these systems to work together to develop optimal muscle control. Our movement experts at The PT Clinic of Tulsa will construct a treatment plan designed to improve your balance, safety, and ability to tackle daily tasks independently.
Strength
We’ll incorporate simple anaerobic movements designed to increase muscle strength. We’ll use various methods, including weight machines, suspension equipment, and simple body weight exercises. The principles of our strength training involve isolating a group of muscles surrounding your injury to produce the desired change in strength, giving you the confidence in those muscle groups once again.
Range Of Motion
They’re are a plethora of health issues that can arise from the limited range of motion, including swelling, inflammation, muscle spasms, and more. Understanding the three types of range of motion exercises will help you in your road to recovery. Below is a description of all three.
– Passive Range of Motion: With PROM, various stretching exercises will be performed with the assistance of our physical therapist or equipment.
– Active Assisted Range of Motion: With AAROM, you’ll work the muscles around your weak joint with the assistance of our physical therapist or equipment.
– Active Range of Motion: With AROM, you’ll be able to perform stretching exercises around the weak joint without any assistance.
It’s our goal to coach you through these three types of range of motion to heal your injury properly, giving you the confidence you should achieve optimal health.
